An exceptional set of four antique nesting tables, crafted in warm-toned rosewood and intricately inlaid with hand-cut mother of pearl. Each tabletop features its own unique composition, framed within a delicate border of finely set inlay. At the center of each lies an oval medallion, richly detailed with naturalistic scenes—blossoming florals, trailing branches, and moments of quiet life rendered in luminous shell. One table depicts a branching composition with perched birds in flight; another a serene lotus scene with water plants and gentle movement; others explore floral groupings in varying densities, each composition distinct yet harmoniously aligned as a set.
The inlay work is remarkably precise, with each fragment of mother of pearl carefully shaped and set to create soft tonal variation and depth. As light moves across the surface, the motifs subtly shift—revealing the iridescence of the shell against the warm, honeyed rosewood ground.
