Antique Chinese Hand-Embroidered Silk Panel
A striking antique silk embroidery dating to the early 20th-century, composed in warm amber and copper-toned threads against a deep black ground. Branches, blossoms, and birds unfold in fine relief—each element subtly raised, giving the surface a quiet, sculptural presence. The composition feels both delicate and grounded: florals in bloom, small birds in motion, all rendered with remarkable precision and restraint. Up close, the dimensionality of the embroidery becomes evident—the threadwork catching light in a way that shifts between matte and sheen.
Originally part of a larger textile, the composition has been carefully selected and custom mounted to frame the most expressive elements of the embroidery—allowing the work to be experienced as a complete visual narrative. The silk has been set within an off-white mount with a deep bevel, and housed in a restrained frame with a muted silver finish and fine black line detailing. Notably, the piece is presented without glass, allowing the texture and depth of the embroidery to be experienced like a textile or canvas. There are a few areas across the silk that have been carefully restored, consistent with its age. With an overall height exceeding one meter, the piece has monumentality—substantial, yet composed.
Due to the size and weight of this piece, shipping is quoted upon request. Please enquire directly.
